Steve McLaren was the major casualty following England’s failure to qualify for a major tournament for the first time in fourteen years, with Fabio Cappello moving into the hot seat. Cappello has shown he is not afraid to bring in new faces at the expense of established internationals, as Jimmy Bullard’s inclusion and Michael Owen’s exclusion highlighted this week. England fans will be hoping Cappello’s new look team will be able to show the dedication and commitment to the national side that seemed to be lacking under Steve McLaren.
