(expired)Surge Of Betting Points Towards A Likudnik Knesset

Israel’s main opposition party, the Likud, have today consolidated their position as the bookmaker’s favourites to retake the Knesset in the forthcoming Israeli legislative election on February 10th.

In the past 24-hours several bets in excess of €1,000 have been wagered on the party formerly led by Ariel Sharon and have resulted in Irish bookmaking giants, Paddy Power, slashing their odds from 2/1 to 4/6 favourite for success on Feb 10th.

Current Knesset majority party, Kadima, had been the bookmaker’s favourite but have drifted in the betting in reaction to the recent surge of support for the Likud and are now the 5/4 second favourites.

Ken Robertson, Paddy Power’s political betting specialist said; “We were taken totally by surprise with the level of support for the Likudniks today and have readjusted our book according. In betting parlance it still remains very much a two horse race and we’ll obviously be keeping a very close eye on betting trends over the coming weeks.”Winning Party (Number of Seats)
