(expired)Sir Hugh Orde New Favourite To Take Top Job At The Met
Bookmaker Paddy Power today slashed the odds on Northern Ireland’s Sir Hugh Orde becoming the next permanent Head of the Metropolitan Police to 5/2 following reports that Sir Paul Stephenson may have reconsidered his application to succeed Sir Ian Blair.
The 2nd Chief Constable of the PSNI is now the clear frontrunner while Stephenson, who up until this morning was considered the red-hot favourite at 11/8 for the job, has now slipped in the betting to 4/1.
Sharon McHugh, spokesperson for Paddy Power said: “The news that Sir Paul may have reconsidered his application altogether has made a dramatic difference to the odds. Despite the fact he authorised the arrest of Damian Green our punters still fancied his chances in the hot seat, but this morning all the betting support has been for Sir Hugh Orde.
With over 25 years of experience under his belt Sir Hugh Orde is certainly a force to be reckoned with, especially if Sir Paul is no longer in the running.” Next Metropolitan Police Commissioner
