(expired)Punters Predicting Two Way Battle For Sun Hotseat
Betting on the next Editor of The Sun looks set to become a classic tabloid head-to-head battle, reports bookie Paddy Power.
As speculation mounts on who Rupert Murdoch will anoint as the successor to Rebekah Wade, punters appear to only have two names in mind for their money.
The Sun’s Deputy Editor Dominic Mohan is being strongly backed, confirming his position as hot favourite. Paddy Power’s early market leader in the betting has seen his odds come in from an opening 7/4 to 11/8.
However Mohan may have a battle on his hands as Richard Wallace has seen his odds slashed from 18/1 to 6/1. Steady money continues to come in for the Daily Mirror editor to make the jump across to News International, forcing the bookie to drastically cut their odds.
Darren Haines, spokesman for Paddy Power, said: “Mohan and Wallace are overwhelmingly the two names Fleet Street are backing so far and, if money talks, we could be set for a two horse race.
“Who knows, perhaps our punters in Wapping and Canary Wharf have differing views on the likely winner.”
