(expired)Paddy Power Suspend Betting on Next NI Executive Meeting
Paddy Power have been forced to suspend betting on when the NI Executive will next meet following what the bookmaker describes as a “massive plunge’ by punters on the Executive meeting before next Sunday, 23 November.
Shrewd punters across Northern Ireland wasted no time snapping up the generous odds on offer by the bookmaker, especially the spread of ‘151 – 160 days’ at 20/1. This means that if the NI Executive meets on Thursday Paddy Power face a pay out in excess of £10,000 across their eight Belfast shops.
Paddy Power said; “Fair play to the Northern Irish punter – as soon as we released the odds our Belfast shops where inundated with punters filling their boots. We watched the odds closely over the weekend and suspended betting on Monday, but not before punters well and truly pulled our pants down!”
The original betting suggested that the Executive would not meet until 2009. Paddy Power even suggested that ‘221-230 days’ was the 4/1 second favourite as the belief was; with the inauguration of Barack Obama occurring at this stage in the spread, his influence might wear off on the Politicians in the North.
