(expired)Weather Makes Hamilton Favourite For Belgian Grand Prix
Formula One heads to Spa-Francorchamps this weekend and Sky Bet are struggling to split Lewis Hamilton (15/8), Felipe Massa (2/1) and Kimi Raikkonen (2/1) at the head of the betting.
It’s a make or break weekend for Raikkonen, who currently trails Hamilton by 13 points in the Drivers Championship and Sky Bet quote the Iceman at 2/1 to win his fourth consecutive Spa Grand Prix. His Ferrari package should certainly suit the track, but there is a good chance of rain hitting the circuit over the weekend, which has resulted in Sky Bet installing Hamilton as the favourite, despite Raikkonen’s dominance in Belgium.
Sky Bet’s Dave Pilgrim said, “We initially installed Raikkonen as the 7/4 favourite, but as the week has progressed, we’ve monitored the weather forecasts and trimmed Hamilton into our new favourite as down-pours look likely. Lewis is simply awesome in the wet, and we’ve also made price changes about the likes of Sebastien Vettel and Mark Webber – both drivers who excel in slippery conditions.”
For those monitoring the weather, the safety car is considered a likely player in the race and is currently quoted at 8/11 to be used and at evens not to come out.
Sky Bet are offering odds on the big guns scoring a ‘race hat-trick’, by claiming pole position, winning the race and setting the fastest lap during the race. Kimi Raikkonen can be backed at 5/1, Hamilton at 11/2, and Massa at 7/1, while Jarno Trulli is 9/4 favourite in the betting ‘without Ferrari, Mclaren or BMW’.
