This week we focus on the big boys and offer odds on which of the Top 4 score the most goals, the quickest goal and the combined total of goals conceded. We also speculate on who will be bottom of the Premier League next Tuesday, November 25th and offer betting on which teams will finish with less than 40 points this season.

Ricky “The Hitman” Hatton visits the MGM Grand; the scene of his Floyd Mayweather Jnr defeat. Hatton has changed from his long-term trainer Billy Graham to Floyd Mayweather Snr hoping a classy performance will prove his doubters wrong. However a well-seasoned Paulie Malignaggi will prove a stern test. Malignaggi has insisted Hatton is past his best and hopes to end the fight early. The bets have to been coming through fast for this boxing spectacular.
Aston Villa v Manchester United 22nd November 2008
Both teams come into this full of confidence. Aston Villa dented Arsenal’s title challenge with a well-deserved 2-0 performance at the Emirates stadium. Manchester United’s quality was evident against Stoke City as they produced a master class of style and attacking flair. Villa will be tougher opposition for United as they threaten to break into a Champions League place. However Sir Alex Ferguson will want his team to step up a gear and not lose sight of Chelsea and Liverpool at the top of the table. This televised game will have goals galore and some great bet-in-play action.
ODI International Cricket – India v England 20th November 2008 – 2nd December 2008
With two defeats England will be hoping to register a win soon. India have been in full flow with some fantastic performances that have oozed class. However the England side have shown signs of a revival.
And don’t forget…
The Rugby League World Cup Final between Australia v New Zealand is taking place on 22nd November 2008 and should be some top quality Rugby action.
Following recent comments from FAI Chief Executive, John Delaney, that we are “owed” a soccer match against England, bookies Paddy Power have released betting on when this ultimate grudge fixture will take place. Memories of Bloody Sunday make a Croke Park meeting for the two sides unlikely at best which is reflected in Paddy Power’s odds of 20/1.
With the newly developed Lansdowne Stadium set to open its gates for the first time in August 2010 and qualifiers for the Euro 2012 Championships beginning the following month, Paddy Power make a 2010 meeting much more likely at 7/4 with 2011 a slightly bigger 10/3 shot. However, the bookies make an encounter in 2012 or later their odds-on 10/11 favourite.
Paddy Power said “The likelihood of a soccer international against England taking place in Croke Park is just about as likely as Roy Keane turning up as their captain on the day but surprisingly some punters are nibbling at the 20/1 available”
Jermaine Pennant is the evens money favourite with bookie Paddy Power to be the first player sold by Liverpool FC as the global credit crunch begins to bite.
With suggestions from football finance expert Keith Harris that a number of clubs, including Liverpool, are coming under pressure from growing debts and cash-starved Banks wanting their money back, speculation is mounting on who might be sacrificed to meet costs at Liverpool. However, one man often said to be a target for the likes of Chelsea and now Manchester City - Spanish striker Fernando Torres – is rated a 22/1 outsider by Paddy Power to be the first out of the door.
Pennant, who continues to look a peripheral player at Anfield, is followed in the betting by former Juventus target Xavi Alonso at 11/2 with Daniel Agger 15/2. Local boys Steven Gerrard and Jamie Carragher are the 25/1 outsiders.
Darren Haines, spokesman for Paddy Power, said: “As the Torres transfer fee largely came from borrowed cash there is a theory he could be a likely candidate to be sold, especially given the transfer fee Fernando would command. But we don’t believe Liverpool will be selling their crown jewels anytime soon, making the likes of Torres and Gerrard safe in our eyes.”
Here’s how he did it………

After all four Premier League sides failed to win in the Champions League this week, Sky Bet have lengthened the odds of the final being an all-English affair for the second year running to 7/2 (from 100/30). An English winner is out to 11/10 from 10/11.
Chelsea lost 3-1 in Rome but remain Sky Bet’s 13/8 favourites to be the furthest progressing English team. Manchester United and Arsenal, who both secured a point on Wednesday, are 15/8 and 4/1 respectively in this market, with Liverpool, who were held 1-1 by Atlético Madrid on Tuesday, 9/2 to go furthest.
With two group games remaining, 2007/08 runners-up Chelsea are Sky Bet’s 9/2 favourites to lift the trophy, with Manchester United 5/1 second favourites and Barcelona available at 6/1.
Leeds United’s 17 year-old hot property, Fabian Delph, is attracting some rave reviews with his stunning displays for the League One outfit this season and is being monitored by a host of Premier League clubs in the hope that they can snatch him from Elland Road. Sky Bet make Delph a 7/2 shot to be at any other club on February 1st and have also issued odds on whether Delph will represent England at senior level.
Sky Bet quote 6/4 for Delph to win a cap for his country before the end of 2012, when he will be 21. Sky Bet also make Delph a 16/1 shot win 20 or more caps, and 33/1 to win 50 or more caps for his country.
Sky Bet’s John Rhodes commented, “Having watched Leeds for 20 years now, I have never seen a player like Delph. He has everything; pace, ability, skill, can tackle, and can score goals. What more could you want from a midfielder? He is coming under a huge spotlight thanks to his recent man-of-the-match performances, which is bound to alert the likes of Chelsea and Arsenal, and I’m just praying from a fan’s perspective that Leeds can keep hold of him.”
Delph is 5/2 to be Leeds’ player of the year, behind their prolific marksman, Jermaine Beckford (6/4).
In-form Wayne Rooney sees no reason why England shouldn’t win all of their remaining World Cup qualifying matches and the Three Lions are now 7/2 (from 7/1) with Sky Bet to pick up maximum points. Fabio Capello’s side are now 4/6 (from 5/4) to remain undefeated in their qualifying campaign, which resumes in April next year.
Rooney, who scored twice to secure victory over Belarus on Wednesday, taking his tally to five goals in his last three internationals, is 5/6 to score over 9.5 goals in qualifying.
Steven Gerrard, who opened the scoring in Minsk, was given a much needed confidence boost and Sky Bet quote 11/8 that he starts all of England’s remaining qualifiers.
