Following a pessimistic plunge, bookie Paddy Power has suspended betting on Stephen Ireland not to return to the Republic of Ireland fold after offering odds for only 3 hours.
On the back of earlier reports of a reconciliation, the bookie had offered odds of just 1/2 that Ireland would return for the next qualifying game against Georgia and 6/4 that his self imposed exile would continue.
However, after a series of lumpy bets on Stephen Ireland not to return, the bookie has pulled the plug on the short lived market.
Paddy Power said, “We’re literally pulling our hair out! While betting was only available for a couple of hours we were practically knocked over by punters who think the story is only baloney – we’ll have to wait and see!”
