Following today’s shock announcement by political journalist John Sergeant to pull out of this year’s Strictly Come Dancing, bookies Paddy Power have promised to refund all bets placed on the 64 year old swinger.

Sergeant’s odds had been slashed to 10/1 from as big as 100/1 with Paddy Power to dance his way to victory after receiving a huge surge in support from the public.

The bookie will refund over £8,400 / €10,000 to die-hard Sergeant fans that got behind the British broadcaster to go all the way. He was a massive worry for the bookie who would have had to fork out over £84,000 / €100,000 had he went on to win!

Sharon McHugh, spokesperson for Paddy Power said: “It’s very disappointing that Sergeant felt he had no choice but to pull out of Strictly Come Dancing and even more disappointing that the judges have won and got their wish!
