Texas Holdem

Texas Holdem is currently the most popular version of poker. It the game most often shown on TV, and played in tournaments. It takes only minutes to learn(although you’ll spend a lifetime mastering it, which is the real beauty of the game).

Card Allocation & Betting

Each player is dealt 2 cards face down – these are known as pocket cards. There follows a round of betting. Three shared cards(“community cards”) are then dealt face up-this is known as the flop. There follows another round of betting. A 4th card or “turn” card is dealt face-up in the middle, followed by a round of a betting. Finally, a 5th card or “river” card is dealt face-up in the middle. There follows another round of betting

To make the best 5 card hand, using any combination of your 2 cards and the shared 5 community cards. The order of poker hands(high to low) are as follows:
Royal Flush, Straight Flush, 4 of a Kind, Flush, Straight, 3 of a Kind, 2 Pair, 1 Pair, High Card
