Even some of the most intelligent people still think that because lottos are 100% random that it doesn’t matter what numbers they choose! This is NOT true – entering certain number combinations may prove a waste of your money. Find out why here.
In lotto games, the numbers drawn are a matter of luck, so whatever numbers you choose have the SAME chance of winning as any others, but because in lottos the prize is shared amongst all entrants, there is no point in entering common numbers.
You’d be surprised how many people enter the numbers 1-2-3-4-5-6 in a 49 number lotto. If you entered these and they all came up, don’t jump for joy as you will be in for a shock – as each would win a very small share of the jackpot!
You’d be much better off entering an haphazard combination – the chance of your numbers being drawn are the same as say 1-2-3-4-5-6, but if you win you’ll win more(as less people will have entered it, or better still you will be the only one!).
Common Selections
(a) 1-2-3-4-5-6 or 44-45-46-47-48-49
(b) 3 or more Consecutive numbers
(c) The last set(or recent) of winning numbers
(d) Numbers that form a pattern on the entry slip
(e) Also be aware that numbers between 1 and 31 are more often selected than numbers 32+ because people enter birthdays as lucky numbers. Equally numbers between 1 and 12 are more often selected than other numbers because of both birth dates and birth months.
(f) If you know what the 6 most frequent winning and the 6 most frequent losing numbers are, make sure at least one of your numbers isn’t in these lists, as many lottery systems which people use have numbers wholly in these lists!
SUMMARY: Avoid common selections – you have the same chance of winning whatever combination you choose – but IF you win you’ll win more if you pick cleverly!
With a lotto wheel you can guarantee yourself a 3 number match, for example. How can this be done?
Lotto wheels are systems which guarantee you a match of X numbers if Y numbers come up, from a selection of Z, in a draw.
For example, you can guarantee yourself a match of 3 numbers if 6 numbers are drawn within your set of 49. This is done by buying multiple tickets with all the possible combinations(you can use various random number generators to show you what numbers to enter). Obviously, this example would be very expensive to enter. So what people do, is use wheels which say guarantee you a match of 4 numbers if 6 numbers are drawn from say a set of 10(obviously, there are less combinations to enter to guarantee a win, compared to the previous example).
Even with wheel systems, the odds of winning are still against you in most lottos, as you are almost certainly not being paid the true odds. However, you often have a better chance of success with the right wheel system, than simply entering multiple lines without a wheel system.
